সুপ্রিয় ২০২১ সালের এইচএসসি পরীক্ষার্থী বন্ধুরা, শুভেচ্ছা নিয়ো। আজ তোমাদের ইংরেজি দ্বিতীয় পত্রের প্রশ্ন নম্বর-১৬ থেকে আরো ১টি Composition Writing নিয়ে আলোচনা করব। তোমরা অবশ্যই প্রাসঙ্গিক ও যথাযথ তথ্যে Composition লিখবে। তাহলে বোর্ড  পরীক্ষায় Composition-এ তোমরা পূর্ণ নম্বর পাবে।

My First Day At College

There are certain events and experiences in a man’s life that can never be forgotten. My first day at college is such a day that I have cherished in my heart. It is the most memorable day of my life. I had been eagerly waiting for this day since my childhood. I heard a lot of stories about college from my elder brothers and sisters. Since then I always dreamt of studying in a college. When I was admitted into a college, it opened up before me a new vision of life. I got a new horizon of knowledge and greater freedom than I had at school. I also felt that I should bear more responsibility. Really my first day at college was the beginning of a new chapter in my life. 

I was really excited when the cherished day came to my life. I could not sleep well the previous night. It was 15th May, 2009. On that day, I was well dressed and started for the college at 8.00 am taking blessing and permission of my parents. When I reached the college my joys knew no bounds. Curiosity led me to move from one room to another. Almost all the rooms were big and broad. The college auditorium was a wonder to me. It was as beautiful as big. Our college was a five-storied building. The whole college campus was crowded by lots of young pupils. At first I felt very lonely. I was moving here and there. Then I met some of my school friends who also got admitted into this college. Finding them, I got relieved. With them I went to the notice board and collected routine.

On the very first day I had 4 classes. When the bell rang, we entered the classroom. Just after a minute, a well-dressed teacher entered the classroom. He got introduced with us and we came to know that he was a lecturer in English. He delivered his lecture in a very attractive and friendly way. I was just charmed to listen to his lecture. I could never think that a college teacher could be so friendly with the students. Next we had Physics, Math and Bangla classes. All the classes were very attractive. 

In my education life, on that day I first got the taste of freedom. I could move from one room to another room and walk on the corridor after the end of a class. I moved from classroom to common room, from laboratory to canteen, from library to sports room. To me, the first day was a thrilling experience.

Reading books has been my hobby since my childhood. Truly speaking, I am a book worm. So I visited the library with great eagerness. I was really stunned to see the vastness of the library. It had a large collection of books on various subjects. Not only books, the library also keeps magazines, journals and English dailies. I decided that I would be a regular visitor of the library.

A look at the students’ common room fully satisfied me. It was well-furnished. Carom and table tennis sets all were there. I did not participate in these games because of shyness. But the care-free environment of the college attracted me much.

My first day at college was a day of discovery. I discovered my new identity, my new goal and new path of my life. I got freedom but there was a sense of responsibility too. I returned home with a feeling of pride and happiness and at the same time I felt that this first day would be the start of a new journey of my life. This memorable day I shall never forget.
